Privacy Policy

• What you give us: your name, email address and the project details you send through our contact form. Each enquiry is stored with the IP address and browser type it came from, so we can review spam. They are kept with the enquiry and deleted with it. If you book a call, our scheduling provider collects the name, email and meeting details you enter.

You do not have to give us any of this, but the form cannot be sent without your name, your email address and a description of your project.

To reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal, to arrange and follow up on a call, to deliver and invoice the work you engage us for, to improve the website using aggregated statistics, and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We send no marketing email. Our automated acknowledgement carries an unsubscribe link; to stop any other email from us, ask at info@theunifiedsync.com.

We use essential cookies the site needs to work, such as remembering your cookie choice. Every optional category below can be turned on or off at any time in Cookie Settings, linked at the foot of every page and at the end of this section.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. It records the pages you view, the page that sent you here, your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address, which Google states it does not log or store (see how Google uses this data). Whether it runs before you have made a choice depends on where you are:

• Where the law requires your consent first: no analytics cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device until you turn analytics on in Cookie Settings, so Google cannot recognise you or link one visit to another.
• Elsewhere: analytics runs from your first page view; this policy is your notice and Cookie Settings is your opt-out. Switch it off there and it stops at once, and its cookies are removed.

Google decides which applies from the location of your connection; we cannot verify it. When analytics is off, the Google tag still loads and sends a signal for each page view and some page interactions. Like any web request it carries your IP address, which Google says it uses only for approximate location and then discards. It sets and reads no cookie. Google keeps the event data behind our reports for at most 14 months.

Marketing. Off everywhere until you turn it on, and we run no advertising today. Turning it on permits Google to use your visit for advertising measurement and personalisation through Google Analytics.

Preferences. We set no preference cookies today. If we add one, it will sit in this category and stay off until you turn it on.

Spam protection and booking. Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA. It loads the first time you interact with a page containing the form, sets a cookie on google.com, and sends your IP address and how you interact with the page to Google to tell visitors from bots, under Google’s Privacy Policy. It runs regardless of your cookie choice, because without it the form is open to spam. Our booking page embeds the Cal.com scheduler, which sets its own cookies inside the embed and is needed to book a call.

When you make a cookie choice we keep a record as proof: your choice, when and where on the site you made it, the version of this policy you were shown, your browser and language, the country and region of your connection, a shortened copy of your IP address and a keyed one-way hash of it. We keep it for 24 months and use it for nothing else. If you turn something on, that lasts 13 months or until this policy changes. If you turn it off, it stays off until you change it or clear your browser.

Our hosting, database, email, spam protection, scheduling and analytics providers store and process personal information outside Canada, mainly in the United States, where it may be subject to lawful access under US law. Transfers from the UK or the European Economic Area rest on our providers’ standard contractual clauses or their EU–US Data Privacy Framework certification (the safeguards EU law recognises); a copy is available on request.

Google may recognise you across other websites that use its services: through reCAPTCHA, and through Google Analytics if you turn marketing on. We do not act on the browser’s Do Not Track setting, which has no agreed meaning.

We keep enquiries for as long as we may need them to respond and follow up, and records of work for the six years Canadian tax rules require, and delete them when they are no longer needed. You can ask for earlier deletion at any time, and we will delete your information unless the law requires us to keep it.

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us (Section 6). If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Outside Canada. Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, our basis is your consent for every optional cookie, the steps you ask us to take for your enquiry, our legitimate interest in keeping the form free of spam and in the cookieless page-view signal described in Section 3, our legal obligation to keep proof of your cookie choice, and our legal obligations for records we must keep. You may also ask us to restrict, port or object to processing, and complain to your data protection authority.

When we revise this policy we update the date at the top of the page.
